About A News Show
A News Show is a female-led, comedian-driven news show made by people who actually enjoy watching comedy and paying attention to what's happening in the world.
We use jokes to make sense of the news. Not to soften it, not to shout about it—just to explain it in a way that sticks. When something is funny, people lean in. When they lean in, they actually understand what's going on.
The show is hosted by a rotating lineup of working comedians and lives in the same neighborhood as The Daily Show, Last Week Tonight, and Saturday Night Live Weekend Update—if those shows were built for the internet instead of television, and didn't have a hundred people in the room.
Everything is filmed out of a real apartment by a small crew of about ten to twelve people who write, perform, shoot, edit, and design the show themselves. It's fast, collaborative, and very hands-on, and somehow still looks good.
We put out three episodes a week—Monday, Wednesday, and Friday—because the news doesn't slow down and neither do we. The goal is to be something you can drop into regularly without it feeling like work.
Everyone involved genuinely likes making this show. There's a lot to do, the pace is real, and the laughs are earned, but that energy carries through. It feels alive because it is.
A News Show exists to make paying attention easier, funnier, a lot less exhausting—and to keep you informed in the best way possible.
Who We Are
We're comics, writers, and storytellers who love the news but not fans of how it's often delivered. We believe that satire is not just entertainment, it's a public service. We use comedy to process the world's messiest stories and to spotlight the contradictions hiding in plain sight.
Jessica Alaniz brings charisma, timing, and warmth to every episode, anchoring each segment with wit and clarity. Her voice, sharp but human, funny but thoughtful and it defines the heart of the show. As a Latina woman leading her own news satire platform, she also represents a voice long underrepresented in late-night and comedy journalism.
Meet the Hosts
Jessica Alaniz — Host, Writer
Jessica Alaniz is a comedian, actress, and writer born and raised in San Antonio, Texas. Now based in Los Angeles, she performs stand-up comedy across the country and is quickly establishing herself as one of the hardest-working young comics on the scene.
Jessica is also the host and one of the writers of A News Show, a fast-growing satirical series that combines sharp cultural commentary with late-night style humor. Her grounded, girl-next-door charisma anchors the show's bold voice, offering audiences a mix of vulnerability, bite, and charm.
With experience in public speaking, acting, and hosting events large and small, Jessica brings authenticity and energy to every stage she's on. Whether she's writing behind the scenes or commanding the spotlight, her work resonates with humor, strength, and an unshakable presence.
Haley Hoffmeister — Actor, Writer, Comedian
Haley Hoffmeister is a Los Angeles–based actor, writer, and comedian originally from Eugene, Oregon. Equal parts sharp and understated, Haley brings a quietly lethal wit to everything she touches.
In addition to hosting A News Show, she also writes and directs segments behind the scenes, shaping the show's voice with precision and restraint. A word ninja with a dry delivery, Haley blends news and satire seamlessly, committing fully to every character while making it all look effortless.
A staple in the Los Angeles comedy scene, she performs locally and on the road. Haley was a featured speaker at TEDxWomen with "Being a Woman is Not That Hard" and can be seen on Amazon Prime's My First Comedy Special.
Tiffany Corrada — Comedian
Tiffany Corrada is a Los Angeles based comedian and creator from Miami, Florida — by way of Orlando.
A brilliant host and writer of A News Show, her perfect mix of deadpan delivery and charming charisma anchor her episodes in an energy completely her own.
Among her myriad talents, Tiffany is a web/app content manager, OCD-haver, cosplayer, gamer, Tamagotchi collector, and Pokémon trainer.
Chris Mata — Creator, Executive Producer
Chris Mata is a veteran comedian, writer, and producer whose work lives at the intersection of sharp satire, grounded storytelling, and cultural clarity. He is the creator and executive producer of A News Show. A fast-paced, independently produced comedy news series that blends the punchlines of Weekend Update, the insight of Last Week Tonight, and the fearless honesty of The Daily Show.
Originally from Converse, Texas, a small town just outside San Antonio, Chris spent over 20 years building a career in stand-up comedy. He's appeared on national television, performed at major comedy festivals, and toured the world entertaining U.S. troops and club audiences alike. His voice — observant, disarming, and rooted in lived experience — has connected with crowds across the globe.
Now based in Los Angeles, Chris brings that same precision and presence to A News Show. More than just a series, the show is a fully self-funded creative platform where satire meets structure. From concept to cut, Chris leads a tight-knit team of writers and performers with a focus on clarity, respect, and smart risk-taking. The set may be an apartment, but the atmosphere is professional and the work is built to last.
As a Latino creator, Chris brings a voice that's been long underrepresented in political satire: thoughtful, unapologetic, and rooted in both comedy and care. With A News Show, he isn't waiting for permission to tell the truth. He's doing it now with jokes that hit, stories that matter, and a team that means business.
What We Do
Every week, we release tightly crafted episodes that deconstruct the news cycle and reframes it through a comedic lens. From U.S. politics to social media scandals to cultural contradictions, nothing is off-limits as long as the jokes are smart and the point is clear. We research, we write, we edit, we punch up, all in-house. Our goal is not just to get laughs, but to build a platform that informs through humor and connects through truth.
Who We're For
A News Show is made for people who are burned out by the news but still want to understand the world. Our audience is culturally literate, politically aware, and emotionally intelligent. They're the ones who scroll past cable news clips and think, "Can someone just say what's really going on?" We do.
We especially connect with:
- Millennials and Gen Z viewers who want political content without pretension
- Viewers of color looking for satire that reflects their experiences
- Creatives, activists, and thinkers who use humor to cope with hard truths
- Comedy nerds who appreciate the writing just as much as the delivery
